SHEFFIELD'S Hindu community came together to celebrate a religious festival with prayers and a traditional feast.
The event, at the Hindu Community Centre, Buckenham Street, Burngreave, was organised to mark the ninth and final day of the Navraatri festival.
It is a precursor to the Diwali festival of light, which takes place later this month, and falls during the Hindu month of Ashmin - devoted to the worship of Shakti or Divine Mother.
The event on Thursday night, organised by the Sheffield and District Hindu Somaj group, began with prayers before visitors tucked into a homemade feast.
Navraati takes place over nine days and is dedicated to three Goddesses - Durga, Goddess of valour, Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth, and Sarawati, Goddess of knowledge - symbolising the trinity of God through a female representation.
