Christian arrested for violating conversion law
NEW DELHI (ICNS): The Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) says police arrested a Christian social worker in Madhya Pradesh on charges of violating conversion law in the state.

The Fellowship expressed “deep concern” over the arrest of Vinayagam David, in Shyamgarh area of state’s Katni district on July 3.

He worked with the Blessing Youth Mission and was in-charge of a children's home, there the Fellowship said in a press release.

Police arrested him in response on the base of a “seemingly frivolous complaint” alleging that children were being forcibly converted and kept without proper documentation.

David, who was granted bail on July4, said he has valid documents from children's parents stating they are willingly leaving their children at the home to ensure their proper education, the release said.

However, the children have been transferred to a government-run children's home instead of being sent back to their parents.

The police reportedly searched the house late in the night without any sanction to do so and arrested David, who has been managing the children's home since 2006.
