திருவனந்தபுரம்: கேரளாவைச் சேர்ந்த கன்னியாஸ்திரி ஒருவர் பாலியல் கொடுமைக்கு ஆளாக்கப்பட்டு தற்கொலை செய்ததாக சர்ச்சை எழுந்துள்ளது. இதுகுறித்து சிபிசிஐடிவிசாரணைக்கு கேரள அரசு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.
கொல்லம் மாவட்ட பிஷப் வீட்டில் சமையல்காரராக இருப்பவர் பாப்பச்சன். இவரது மகள் அனுபா. 23 வயதான அனுபா கன்னியாஸ்திரி ஆவார். கொல்லத்தில் உள்ள கிறிஸ்தவப் பள்ளி ஒன்றில் ஆசிரியையாக பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.இந்த நிலையில் அப்பள்ளியில் உள்ள தனது அறையில் மின் விசிறியில் தூக்குப் போட்டு அனுபா தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டார்.
அவரது அறையில் வைத்திருந்த தற்கொலைக் கடிதத்தில், இங்குள்ள சூழலுடன் என்னால் ஒத்துப் போக முடியவில்லை. மதர் சுப்பீரியருடன் கருத்து வேறுபாடுகள் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளன. எனவே தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்கிறேன் என்று எழுதி வைத்துள்ளார் அனுபா.
ஆனால் தனது மகள் பாலியல் சித்திரவதைக்கு ஆளாக்கப்பட்டதாக பாப்பச்சன் குற்றம் சாட்டியுள்ளார். மகளுடன் தங்கியிருந்த ஒரு கன்னியாஸ்திரி, ஓரினச் சேர்க்கைக்கு வற்புறுத்தியதால்தான் அவர் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டதாக கூறியுள்ளார். இதுதொடர்பாக முதல்வர் அச்சுதானந்தனையும் சந்தித்து அவர் புகார் கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
இதுகுறித்துஅவர் கூறுகையில், அங்குள்ள கன்னியாஸ்திரி ஒருவர் எனது மகளுடன் பாலியல் உறவுக்கு வற்புறுத்தி அநாகரீகமாக நடந்து கொண்டுள்ளார். இதுகுறித்து தனது டைரியில் எனது மகள் வேதனையுடன் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார் என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.
இந்த நிலையில் அனுபா தற்கொலை வழக்கை சிபிசிஐடி விசாரிக்கும் என கேரள மாநில அரசு அறிவித்துள்ளது. மாநில மகளிர் ஆணையமும் விரிவான விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

Kerala nuns suicide takes a lesbian twist

The family of a young nun who committed suicide in Kollam on Monday has alleged that she was being sexually harassed by a senior nun and tortured for the last two months.
The body of Sr Anupa, 22, was found hanging in her room at St Mary’s Convent, Port Kollam, about 80 km from here around 4 pm.
A member of the Vimala Hrudaya Franciscan congregation, she was the second of the six children of Pappachan and Bijiamma of Kanjirode near Kundara in Kollam. Police recovered a suicide note in which she expressed her difficulty in adjusting with her new environment and also her disagreement with the mother superior of the convent.
Pappachan virtually dropped a bombshell on Tuesday by alleging that his daughter was also being forced into a lesbian relationship and physically tortured during the past two months. “My daughter was forced to do many things that a nun normally did not have to,’’ he says. “She was made to clean toilets, sweep the premises and wash the floor. And, when she retired to her room tired after doing all these things, the mother superior would get into bed with her,’’ he said. “If this nun was not trying to do what a man does, what else was she doing in bed with her? I came to know about this from my wife only after my child committed suicide,” said Pappachan trying to hold back his tears.
Women’s panel ‘upbeat’
The incident, though unfortunate, has come as a shot in the arm for the Kerala State Women’s Commission. “What we stated sometime ago, that in convents inmates are being ill-treated, now stands vindicated,” said former judge D Sreedevi who heads the commission. The panel had two months ago demanded certain rules for girls enrolling as nuns thereby inviting the ire of Christian organisations.
Justice Sreedevi said the commission would review the police investigation in the case and if needed conduct its own inquiry. She said the commission was already collecting evidence secretly in complaints received from nuns. Meanwhile, Pappachan said he would “go to any extent to reveal the truth".
